George Zienowicz the "Sign Man"

The SIGN MAN!
George Zienowicz

We take lots of things for granted as we travel in our busy lives.  Some of them are the signs that let us know what we are looking for.  In the Trenton area George Zienowicz is responsible for A LOT of them.  George has the look of someone who Hollywood would mark as a biker, a Harley guy and he is.  However don’t let that discourage you and lead you to miss out on a local craftsman/artist and businessman.

I had the privilege to meet George a few months ago at his old office.  The location was just off of Hamilton Ave near the Wirerope district.  The red brick building screams character and a perfect fit for George, I thought.  After a brief introduction George let me take a self guided tour around his shop.  I felt like I had the keys to a museum-like storage area for signs.  The tools and equipment are as various as the businesses and organizations George does work for.

Old wood tables that have produced years of signs, a digital table and hand tools all to help make signs out of practically anything!  Don’t be fooled into thinking only signs, this craftsman is a fabricator and visionary as well.  Ask him to show you a few of his functioning projects for the shop.

Fast forward to Fall of 2011.  George has moved…..WHAT!  Only around the corner though, to a more functional space.  This new location gives the feel of reality show shop space.

Think of the motorcycle building t.v. programs.  The creativity that happens here is the same that so many have come to expect from George, and I don’t think anything will change in the future.

In closing, you now know of another member of the Trenton365.  You have seen his work whether you know it or not, now get to know him.  As always thank you for visiting, recommend someone and let the subject person know you saw him or her at trenton365.blogspot.com
